The Realtor you decide on will help you determine what needs to be done to your home to show it in the best light. She will also be able to help you determine the sales price, and the best time to put it on the market.
During the cold, snowy, icy days of winter it is an ideal time to give your home a deep cleaning. Wash down, and dust everything. Get behind those couches that have not been moved for years, have the draperies laundered, clean the window blinds, empty your cupboards, throwing away items you don’t need, and washing down the shelves.
It’s also a good time to paint walls and trim, and make sure the flooring is in good condition. Be sure all lamps and light fixtures have proper working light bulbs too. Get your HVAC systems in proper working order, fix any broken appliances that will stay with the home, make sure CO2 and smoke detectors are installed and working correctly.
The process of decluttering your home can also be started while you are cleaning. Pack up items you won’t be needing until your move into your new home. Start emptying closets and storing clothing that isn’t being used. The garage or basement make good places to start storing boxes in an orderly fashion or if you want to go big, you can order a storage container and start loading that.
Once the nice weather hits, all you will need to do is tidy up the exterior of your home and yard, and put your home on the market!
